I am an acne victim. Many times when I am going out on a pretty date, well, it just pops out in all the rage as you can imagine. Maybe it is the anxiety or something, but the truth is that I have been a victim of acne for as long as I can remember. It attacks my face and my back mostly. However, lately, I have managed to contain the situation quite admirably, if I may say so myself.
You see, ever since I was a teenager, I have suffered it all, from low self-esteem to deriding catcalls from boys and believe you me, I have learned all there is to know about this condition.
The first thing you have to know is how to control a breakout. Many things cause this and as you will see here, they are quite preventable. How? Read on.
Avoid scrubbing your face
When you scrub your face, you leave the skin sore and sensitive. You increase the risk of suffering a breakout. What you should do instead of scrubbing the face with a rough towel is massage it with natural products, you know, acne washes and skin clearing products.
Be consistent with acne treatment
Most people are always so disturbed when they are going to seek acne treatment. However, when they start seeing the results, they tend to relax with their treatment instead of adding more effort. Continue doing what your dermatologist advised you to do, use all the products that you were given and make it consistent. You don’t just want the acne to go away, you want it to stay gone.
Grime and dirt
The face is the most exposed part of the body. It meets with all the elements, and you can imagine you are still expected to keep a brave face. Keep your face as clean as possible, cover it where you can especially when undergoing acne treatment. Avoid using dirty towels and sleeping on dirty pillows. Anything that is not clean, hats, glasses and scarves should not touch your face.
Don’t pop the pimple heads
Many people can barely keep their fingers away, especially when the pimples start drying up. This is only natural, but you have to resist the urge. Resist the temptation to pop the heads of the pimples as this triggers an outbreak.
Using self-subscribed face care products
If you have an acne prone skin, you need to know what products to use. Just because a product healed your friend does not mean it will be good for you. Always see a dermatologist so that he or she can prescribe the best products based on your skin needs and type.
It’s only the face that matters
Ok, so it is the face that many people can see, but tell you what – the shoulders, back, buttocks and chest could also be affected by acne. Treat them too. If you clear your face and leave the other parts, they could re-infect your face with acne.
Always stay moisturized
A moisturized skin is a breathing skin, lovely to the touch and elastic. However, moisturizing is hard as you have to go under the steam to open up the pores, then use a moisturizing product. But it is very important as it improves your skin health. Moisturizing will also get rid of dead cells that bacteria feed on to cause acne.
